14 and were struck by an oncoming vehicle; WHEREAS: Officer Trevor Howard sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased, and Officer Anthony Johnson sustained critical injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment; WHEREAS: Our law enforcement officers are Arkansas’ finest, putting their lives at risk in the line of duty to protect and serve the people of our state, and; WHEREAS: Arkansans are praying for officers Howard and Johnson, their families, the Marked Tree Police Department, and the entire community that has been impacted by this tragedy. NOW, THEREFORE, I, SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS, acting under the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Arkansas, do hereby order that the United States flag and the state flag of Arkansas be flown at half-staff throughout the State from sunrise to sunset on the day of interment, in memory of the deceased and injured officers. IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Arkansas to be affixed this 29th day of June, in the year of our Lord 2026. ###
